Polish lilacs

Thanks to Kinga Novak of Kornik Arboretum we have received some photos of second generation S. x prestoniae lilacs (more correctly called the Villosae group) bred by Prof. Wladyslaw Bugała back in 1963 with names being registered in 1970.
As these images come from the originating collection we have every reason to believe they represent trueness to type.

More of the Bugala lilacs may be found on our 'species & hybrids' pages, viz. Danusia, Diana and Nike.

A second major contibutor to lilac breeding in Poland is Mikolaj Karpow-Lipski who worked mainly on S. vulgaris and introduced 22 cultivars. We have an image on our 'S. vulgaris' page: Bogdan Przyrzkowski.
